A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck near the capital city of Kathmandu in Nepal, at 06:11:26 UTC on April 25, 2015. The effects of the earthquake and the numerous aftershocks have caused significant damage and loss of life in the region.
In imagery from April 27, wide-spread damage to the Kathmandu area can be seen. Imagery shows irreplaceable, historic temples damaged or destroyed. People can be seen moving about the streets and tents are located throughout the area as temporary housing.
