On April 14, 2015, the Yemen LNG Company announced that it was evacuating personnel and halting export and liquefaction operations at the Balḩāf Terminal for security reasons.

The facility itself, which is Yemen’s only LNG plant, covers 20 square kilometers of land on the Gulf of Aden and consists of two, C3MR (propane pre-cooled mixed refrigerant), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), trains which are able to produce 6.7 million metric tons per year of liquefied natural gas.
